DESCRIPTION

For decades, the intimus 16 Series heavy duty shredders have proven to be the cornerstone for the privacy-friendly disposal of disused media. The line now comes standard with SmartShred Touchscreen Controls, with session logging, maintenance reminders, and increased cutting efficiency. With SmartShred electronic automation, the 16.86 will perform longer and have far fewer service calls than competitive products.

The model range offers variations that can handle up to 550 sheets at a time or up to 1,500 lbs per hour. On the larger cut sizes metal ringed binders can be destroyed complete without removing pages or dividers. The spacious feed table with integrated infeed conveyor belt provides controlled, effortless, safe and fast loading. A standard safety feature to intimus but uncommon in competitive units, is the chest bar that shuts down the conveyor and cutting head when the chest of the user leans too close the cutting head. This is a great safety feature for users not accustomed to the power of an industrial shredder. In the 16.50 series, the shredded material is collected in large-scale, mobile containers under the cutting mechanism. The 16.86 combines the shredder with a press baler for immediate fully automatic compaction of the cut material into compact bales. Reduction effect compared to the loose collection of the cuttings is about 70%.

What is the value of an automatic oiler?

Answer:

Automatic oilers are great shredding material that creates additional heat when shredded. Regular office paper creates little heat when shredded and the oil interval to keep the cutting knives lubricated is based on time of operation. Material that is infused with non paper fibers, like triplicate forms, coated paper, and plastic sheet covers can cause additional heating where the automatic application of oil will keep the cutting knives cooler and extend their usable life.

What is different about the new digital automatic oiler on the 16 series shredders?

Answer:

Our new automatic oiler uses sensors to determine appropriate oiling therefore reducing oil consumption of a typical “Always On” pump driven oiler on many competitive machines.

Why is the baler located under the shredder in the 16 series units?

Answer:

To save space and conveyor length, the 16 series shredders have available press balers custom fitted underneath the shredding head. This reduces the footprint of the machine by at least 50% over competitive units. The input to the baler from the shredder including the conveyor in the 16.86 models reduces paper dust particles from leaving the machine by 70% versus competing machines that convey the paper cuttings outside the machine to an adjacent press baler. This system with the baler underneath works well in low ceiling applications and our 16.86 has been deployed in standard shipping containers.
