intimus 20000 S Degausser with Auditor-Pro
The intimus 20000 S degausser is the ultimate in data destruction power. NSA/CDD EPL-Listed
The intimus 20000 S degausser completely erases all data from any hard disk or magnetic tape at 20,000 gauss in under 15 seconds. It comes with the Auditor-Pro system to create an audit-worthy media destruction report as you degauss.
- Listed on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List, meeting the toughest government and industry standards for erasing hard drive and tape media
- For non-functioning or obsolete hard disks and magnetic tapes
- Complete data erasure in under 15 s
- For highest throughput: Erases up to 150 HDDs (3.5 in.) per hour
- Easy to use: place the media in the drawer, close the drawer and degauss cycle starts automatically
Enables continuous operation - Integrated magnetic field monitoring during each cycle
- Worldwide pluggable to a standard power outlet
- Small footprint and quiet operation for office use

FAQs
Question:
Will the intimus 20000 S degauss hard drives written with shingled formatting?
Answer:
Yes. Shingled media has the same coercivity as regular perpendicular media. The NSA has not given any specific guidance for shingled media versus conventional perpendicular recording.
Question:
How do I know a hard drive has been successfully degaussed?
Answer:
After a hard drive has been degaussed with the intimus 20000 S, it will have no servo tracks. Servo tracks are the first organized data laid onto a new HDD platter by the manufacturer. Degaussing with the intimus 20000 S eliminates the servo tracks and all data associated with them, rendering the drive unrecoverable by any means. To determine if a hard drive has been degaussed, use a common USB adapter to adapt the drive to a working computer. Usually, the drive will not mount. However, some manufacturers have drive information stored on the green logic board of the drive that will identify its model and date of manufacture. Upon further review of the drive information, you will find that no data exists.
Question:
The intimus 20000 S uses a powerful magnetic field to destroy data on hard drives and tape-based media. Is that field safe for humans and other memory media?
Answer:
The design of the intimus 20000 S contains the powerful magnetic fields within the degausser. Magnetic emissions outside the degausser are minimal, and much less powerful than the magnetic field generated by a typical smartphone.
Question:
How long will the intimus 20000 S last?
Answer:
Longevity is always subject to user behavior and environmental conditions. However, if minimal maintenance is performed at regular intervals. and the unit is operated in an office environment within the environmental specifications of the machine, it is likely to achieve a lifetime of 50,000 to 100,000 cycles.
Question:
Will the intimus 20000 S degausser erase solid state media like SSDs, thumb drives, and flash memory?
Answer:
No. Solid state memory has to be physically destroyed (i.e. crushed or shredded) to make the data unrecoverable. Intimus manufactures a number of products specifically designed to destroy solid state media. Everything you need to know about destroying solid state media and what the recovery potential is can be found here. Solid state memory is a completely different kind of storage media than hard drives and computer tape. Solid state memory uses electric voltage to write and store data, whereas HDDs use magnetic particles. A degausser is unlikely to consistently remove data from solid state media. It may damage it and cause latent defects, but will not typically erase the data from solid state media such as SSDs, thumb drives, flash memory, and memory sticks.
